Managing Partner Brooke C. McDermott specializes in complex estate and trust planning, estate and trust administration matters, asset protection, and estate, trust, and gift tax controversy matters. She advises on multi-state and international jurisdictional situations and solutions.

Skilled at explaining complex concepts to her clients, Brooke counsels individuals and families enabling them to achieve their financial, family, and charitable goals, guiding them, step-by-step, through the estate planning process. Applying the experience and knowledge accumulated by the firm’s founder in educating and assisting the client and beneficiaries, Brooke’s implementation of family dynamics allows a variety of wealth planning strategies aimed at accomplishing both tax and family-generational planning.

With the complexity of dealing with the assets post mortem, Brooke advises individuals, families, beneficiaries, trustees and executors with regard to probate, estate and trust administration matters, including preparation of estate tax returns, and IRS and FTB audits and appeals, . Using the sophisticated technology resources within the firm to organize and report, much of the detail and intricate concepts and procedures regarding allocation and distribution of bequests to beneficiaries are explained to clients in understandable, meaningful ways.

Brooke joined Ambrecht & McDermott, LLP in 2008.

Representative matters: Advising on creating a comprehensive plan for distribution and protection of assets; guiding beneficiaries through the labyrinth of state, federal, and foreign distributions according to the testamentary wishes as expressed in the deceased plan; as a trusted advisor, counseling the beneficiaries in the most expeditious and least expensive to achieve the transition after the decedent’s passing.
